Como - Italy 2018 - 2020
Villa AP is a new property for a couple looking to start a family in the Como area of Brianza. The idea is simple: a pitched roof with a complex functional space underneath.
The building consists of two floors above ground.
On the ground floor are the utility rooms, an office with separate entrance and a large piano room. A central staircase allows vertical distribution, opening up to the main areas of the house. The theme is double-height, exploited by adding a mezzanine to the living area with an overhead walkway connecting two spaces located at either end of each other which contain areas for games and recreation. Sun tunnels provide light to the space below.
Underneath the overhead structure, a spacious living room with large windows provides generous lighting for the rooms overlooking the garden and the surrounding landscape.
The building has a basement clad in COR-TEN which secures it firmly to the ground, emphasising the different paths leading to the house.
